Is your Canon printer offline? Check if your printer is turned on. If not, turn it on to bring it back online. Sometimes, your printer status might be offline on your Windows computer if your printer is in sleep or hibernate mode. In such cases, press any button on the printer control panel to wake it up. If your printer status is still offline, follow the troubleshooting steps given below.
Solution 1: Basic Troubleshooting
First, check the USB connection between your printer and computer. Verify if the cable has been connected properly at both end ports.
If you have connected your printer and computer over a wireless network, check the Wi-Fi connection status.
Restart your printer and router.
Place your printer close to your router to reduce Wi-Fi interference.
Reconnect your printer to your Wi-Fi and check if the problem has been resolved.
If your printer status is still offline, move on to the next solution.
Solution 2: Disable Use Printer Offline and set the printer as default
On your Windows computer, open Control Panel and click the Devices and Printers tab.
Give a right-click on your printer’s icon and select the See what’s printing option.
Cancel the pending print jobs, if any.
Click the Printer tab and deselect the Use Printer Offline option from the drop-down list.
If there is no green checkmark on your printer’s icon, give a right-click on it and then select the Set as default printer option.
Once your printer is set as default on your computer, you can see the green checkmark.
Solution 3: Restart Print Spooler
Click the Start menu, type ‘services.msc’ in the search field, and hit the Enter key.
In the Services window, locate the Print Spooler service from the displayed list.
Give a right-click on the Print Spooler service and select the Restart option. This should restart the Print Spooler service and fix the issue.
